Teacher Workshop: Drawings and Found Objects: Museum as Muse

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday August 5

10:00 AM  –  4:00 PM

Working with professional artist Jason Watson, participants will use The Mint Museum collections as inspiration for found object and mixed media collage work.

Day 1, participants will experience the Mint Uptown galleries and photograph and sketch a select work of art. In the studio classroom, participants will manipulate a canvas with found paper collage and refine ideas to expand upon their images and sketches.

Day 2, participants will explore artists who work with and alter found objects. Using personal found objects, participants will experiment with techniques for attaching found objects to canvas and combining drawings and mixed media.

Day 3, participants will refine their projects, explore ways to use techniques in their classrooms, and view a professional video of Jason Watson sharing his creative process.

WHAT TO BRING: Lunch if you choose not to use local establishments. All drawing and mixed media materials will be provided. Participants will be instructed to bring found objects/materials for Day 2.

RENEWAL CREDIT: All teachers will receive 1.5 credits for attending the workshop.
